The new retirement home "Sanysol" will present their new premises and give a conference in English on how pensioners can obtain a grant for those who need care, according to the law of dependency. The conference will take place at Nerja Cultural Centre in C/ Granada 45 and will last aprox. 90 minutes. Programme attached.

Due to the success of our first computer course in English, the Nerja Foreigners Department has organized together with the information company, "In Malaga Today", the second computer course at the Nerja Cultural Centre in C/ Granada 45.

12th, 13th and 14th April from 17:00 to 20:00 Beginners = 25 €.

15th and 16th April from 17:00 to 20:00 Intermediate = 18 €.

As people often do not know how to react to the loss of a loved one, the funeral company "La National" will give a conference in English on how to resolve in Spain all the necessary items involved, with the aim of giving a proper goodbye to your loved one. Uncertainty, differing local customs, complicated red-tape, language barriers and other inconveniences that arise can make that painful time even more traumatic if you do not know how to proceed. Information will be given on services offered such cremations, burial and repatriations. The conference will be at the Nerja Cultural Centre in C/ Granada 45 and will last aprox. 90 minutes.

When you come to live to Nerja for the first time, please come to our office at the ground floor of the Town Hall to receive advice and general information on what foreigners need when living in Spain. i.e. Buying a property, applying for NIE number or residencia, registering on the population list, building works, medical assistance, motoring and taxes. The way of life in Spain is different from your country and our task is to make you enjoy your stay in Nerja and avoid unnecessary problems due to lack of knowledge or inadequate information.

Garbage tax to be paid only by shops and business premises until 20th April

Shops and business premises are liable to pay garbage tax until 20th April. If you have not received the invoice by post, please ask the Nerja Tax Office Patronato de Recaudacion at C/ Cristo 14 (near the Post Office). We advise to have all your taxes paid by bank order. For this, please take your bank account number to the Nerja Tax Office Patronato.

Grants to be given by Nerja Caves to associations, clubs and other societies

The Caves of Nerja have opened the period for applying for economic grants to Associations, Clubs and other Societies who are fully legalized. The finalizing date is 30th March 2010. Applications forms and information can be collected at the Nerja Caves or at the Nerja Foreigners Department of the Town Hall. Applications are to be presented at the Nerja Caves Office.

Cancellation of the conference in English by Bancaja on buying - selling a property and equity release, due for 3rd February

We are sorry to inform that due to unforeseen circumstances the conference in English to be given by Bancaja on 3rd February has been cancelled for the moment. This talk on Equity Release, Hipoteca Inversa, is based on giving credits to persons over 60 who own a property in Spain and receiving money from the bank according to the valuation the bank has made of your house. The conference has been postponed and as soon as we know the new date we will inform you.

Information on the 2 main taxes all foreigners who own a property must pay every year

1.-Town Hall general rates IBI.

To be paid from July to November. We advise you to make a bank order so the receipt is paid automatically by your bank. You must apply for this at the Tax Office at C/ Cristo 14 (near the Post Office) presenting your bank details.

2.-The Hacienda Inland Revenue Tax Declaration always related to the previous year.

Depending if you are Non Resident or Resident you present the following forms:

A.-Non Residents: Form 210 for Non Residents.

You buy the form at the Nerja Foreigners Department or at the Hacienda office, you fill it in with details of the IBI receipt and you take the form to your bank and pay it. This is not done by direct debit as it does not come automatically through the bank. Every year you must fill in the 210 form. You have the whole year from January to December to make the payment. This form is easy to fill in and can be done by yourself.

B.-Residents: Form Declaracion de la Renta.

Depending on the amount of your income or pension, you are liable or not to make the Declaracion de la Renta. You should contact a fiscal agent, Asesoria, to inform you if you should make this tax declaration. Payments to be made every year from May to June. You present the tax form at your bank and pay it. This form is difficult to fill in and if you do not have fiscal knowledge, it is preferable that an agency, Asesoria, does it for you.

Residents day 2010 18th april at the square behind the Town Hall (now called Plaza de Espa�a)

Residents Day 2010 will be on Sunday 18th April. There will be a meeting with all the foreign associations and clubs of Nerja who would like to participate in this event on February 10th at 11:00h at the Nerja Cultural Centre in C/ Granada 45.

IBI information letter sent out by the tax office Patronato de Recaudacion

The Tax Office Patronato de Recaudación is sending a letter to all owners of a property regarding the payment in instalments of the local general rates IBI 2010. There are 3 modalities of paying this tax by instalments:

In 2 payments; April and October. To be applied for before 26th February.
In 3 payments; April, July and October. To be applied for before 26th February.
In 9 payments; From March to November. To be applied for before 29th January.

The instalment letter is to be presented at the Patronato de Recaudación in Nerja in C/ Cristo 13 (near the Post Office).

If you wish to pay your IBI tax as always in one payment, just ignore this letter. We advise to make a banker's order so that the bank will automatically pay this receipt.

Reminder: Car Entrance Tax for 2007. Payments dates: october 13th to january 13th

Owners of a garage entrance or a gate permitting the access of a care are liable to pay this tax. The Town Hall is delayed and is now charging year 2007. In several months time 2008 will be charged. Many owners are unaware of this tax. If you have not received the invoice by post, please collect it at the Nerja Tax Office (near the Post Office).
