Residence Certificate

When foreigners spend more that 6 months a year in Spain they should apply for a Residence Certificate.

EU-Citizens

This Residence Certificate, on which will appear your NIE, name, address and nationality, but no photo, cannot be used as a form of identification.      

You apply for the Residence Certificate at the National Police Station in Torre del Mar and it will be given on the same day.

Documents to present:

  • Application form (original and photocopy). This form is also available at Nerja Foreigners Department.
  • Bank payment slip of approx. 10 €. This form is available at the Torre del Mar Police Station.
  • Passport (original and photocopy).
  • 1 photo.

Children should submit the abovementioned documents together with a copy of their Birth Certificate translated by a sworn translator.

Non-EU Citizens

Will apply for the Residence Card at the Oficina de Extranjeros de la Subdelegacion in Malaga, C/ Virgen del Gran Poder 40. An appointment must be made at fax number 952 98 9547.

The Nerja Foreigners Department is on the ground floor of the Town Hall next to the main entrance. We will be pleased to assist all foreigners that need general information on living in Nerja.
