Friday, 26 August 2011The Town Hall will give a bonus for free local bus to pensioners over 65 years old, registered for more than one year on the Nerja Padron, (population list) and holding a residence certificate. The total of your pensions must be lower than 481 € per month and you must present your income tax. Information at Nerja Town Hall Foreigners Department.
CARABEO PARKING BONUS

The private Carabeo Parking bonus will now cost 40 € per month for persons who are on the Nerja Town Hall Padron (population list) and also have their road tax registered in Nerja. Those who had a previous bonus of 7 € per month will continue with this offer until the end of September when all the cars will have to leave the parking for the Fair installation.
REFUSE GAS COMPANIES TO ENTER YOUR HOUSE
Thursday, 11 August 2011Once again we have different gas companies knocking on everyone's door to make the gas revision. We have received many complaints informing us that they intend by all means to get into the house saying that it is compulsory to make the gas revision and if you do not do it you will have many problems. They also charge extremely high prices, from 120€ to 200€, once they have managed to convince you to let them in your house.
Say NO and do not let them into your house.
The gas revision is to be done every 5 years but with the company that you choose and have phoned previously to make an appointment for them to come to your house.
In Nerja we have 2 gas companies with an office where you can contact them or complain if necessary:

CONFIRMING YOU ARE ON THE PADRON
Friday, 5 August 2011Foreign Residents who have been registered on the Padron, Town Hall population list, for more than 5 years, should check that they continue on this list. The new law states that after a period of 5 years, foreigners must confirm every 2 years that they are registered on the Padron. If you do not sign the confirmation form or there has been no movement on the Padron, as a change of address, or change of name, etc., in a near future, you will be deregistered from the Padron.
It is important that you continue registered on the Padron as this entitles you to many advantages as: discounts in the Nerja public parkings, discounts for pensioners on the local bus, obtaining the 65 pensioners card for deductions in buses & glasses, receiving medical and social services and enrolling your children to school. Also, the Town Hall receives grants from the Regional and Central Government for every person registered on the Padron in order to provide local services such as doctors, schools, police, infrastructure, etc.
