Nerja Town Hall Foreigners Department has organized a conference by Blacktower Financial Management Group on May 11th at 11:00 at the Cultural Centre in Calle Granada 45. The conference will last approximately 90 minutes and after wine and tapas will be offered.

CARABEO PARKING FREE FOR PERSONS REGISTERED ON NERJA TOWN HALL POPULATION LIST PADRON

Those persons registered on the Population List of Nerja, Padron, will be able to park free at the private Carabeo Parking (situated on the fair ground) when presenting a Padron certificate showing that you live in Nerja. This will be for one month (or until agreements are made with the Town Hall). To register on the Padron please come to the ground floor of the Town Hall with your NIE certificate, passport and an electricity / water or telephone bill in your name or a rental contract.

The New Finance Act 2011 has brought more changes to the pension sector; the most notable change is rise on death duty from 35% to 55%. This will come into affect from April this year.

Not many ex-pats are aware of "their rights" when it comes to pensions, whether it be a personal or company scheme that is currently still in the UK. After a change of legislation within the pension sector, all UK ex pats have now the opportunity to move their pensions from the UK to the EU, where all UK tax implications could cease.

This means that an ex-pat living in Spain may have their pension paid to them gross and they even have the choice of their preferred currency, either sterling or euro.

If you still have your pension in the UK, in the event of death, your next of kin will have to pay minimum 35% death duty on your fund before their options commence. As from April this year (2011) this will now increase to 55%.

VOTING BY POST FOR THE LOCAL ELECTIONS AT THE POST OFFICE BEFORE 12TH MAY

If you will not be in Nerja during the local elections on May 22nd or you are working or ill, you can apply to vote by post. In Nerja, you should go to the Post Office in C/ Cristo with your passport or identity card. Opening hours; Monday to Friday 08:30 - 14:30 Saturday 09:00 - 13:00. (Closed during all Holy Week Semana Santa). The Post Office will give you a form to fill in with your personal details together with a stamped envelope. This is to be done before May 12th.

You will receive at your address the voting information. The postman will give you personally this information when you show your passport or identity card. The voting information includes the electoral paper slips with all the candidates so you can choose the list you wish to elect. You will also receive a stamped envelope so you can return your vote. Please note that you can only vote for one political party, so you take one list of candidates and put it in the corresponding voting envelope. After, you put these documents inside the stamped envelope and post it back.

The Anglican Parish of Nerja and Almuñecar is holding a short Act of Worship in English on Good Friday at 12 noon on the Balcon de Europa. It will include hymns, readings and prayers for the day. All are welcome to come and share in this.
